Leadership, Innovation and Management Foundation
Content / Overview: This course was designed with input from local businesses in the Surrey Chambers of Commerce network to provide you with real-world insight into the skills and knowledge needed for success in the current business market. It will therefore enable you to develop the skills and knowledge employers want in todays challenging times and to extend your organisational, management and business practices to improve your performance and that of any teams you manage.Course Modules: Personal Development, Organisational Leadership, International Business Environment, Business Law, Quality Management & Customer Services, Marketing Fundamentals, Principals of Financial Management, Change Management, Leading and Managing People and Teams, International Business Strategy, Innovation and Enterprise, Project Management, Business Research Application Process: Application followed by individual interview Entry Requirements: The qualification is intended for people who are currently employed at a supervisory management level within local Surrey businesses and employees wishing to undertake a formal qualification to assist with their own personal and career development. The qualification is open to employees from businesses within Surrey Chambers network as well as those from outside the membership. The qualification is aimed at individuals with no formal academic qualifications beyond school. Applicants will normally have had a minimum of two years experience working as a project manager or team leader. Students can receive recognition for work-based learning. Careers: This course is intended to develop your skills in leadership, communication, analysis and enterprise as you develop your career and should significantly increase your potential for promotion to more senior roles with added responsibilities. The Silver Academy
Starting Your Own Business?Are you over 50? Unemployed or facing redundancy? Are keen to be self-employed or start your own business? Live in the South East? If so, would you like some free help? South East England Chambers of Commerce together with the University of Surrey are offering limited places on their Silver Academy programme running from October 2010 to April 2011 The Silver Academy provides you with: Opportunity to take stock and consider your options in starting your own business or working self-employed Facilitation and guidance to help you choose the right option for you, set yourself up, attract clients/customers, deliver your service/products and successfully manage and grow your business to serve your lifestyle requirements A self-help manual and toolkit to work through the programme Seven one-day workshops held in Guildford, from October 2010 to April 2011 As part of the workshops, 30 minute one-to-one business clinics are available with volunteer business mentors from the Surrey and the Hampshire Chambers of Commerce Membership of a peer-to-peer support network Online and telephone support Opportunities to participate in peer-to-peer coaching and gain leadership experience This project is funded by the EU and the University of Surrey through the EU PEOPLE mini-programme under the Interregional Cooperation programme INTERREG IVC. The Silver Academy is also being run at the same time in the regions of Andalucνa, Spain and Malopolska, Poland.
