Watts Gallery – The Big Give Christmas Challenge

22nd November 2018

Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village is located in Surrey; a county that is often perceived as wealthy. In fact, Surrey has significant areas of urban and rural deprivation with high levels of child poverty, low income, and poor mental health provision.

This year marks 10 years of Watts Gallery Trust’s Art for All Learning Programme. This award winning programme reaches out to over 29,000 people a year and takes its inspiration from Watts Gallery – Artists’ Village founders, George Frederic and Mary Watts who passionately believed that art could overcome inequality and transform lives.

Today they continue George and Mary’s Art for All ethos by inviting local charities, community groups and prisons to work in partnership to offer people with significant challenges in their lives the opportunity to explore, make, exhibit and sell art. The results can be life changing.

Please help them to continue to offer Art for All and change people’s lives by supporting the Big Give Christmas Challenge… It makes a fantastic alternative Christmas gift! You can make a donation online by following this link between midday, Tuesday 27 November and midday, Tuesday 4 December and your donation will be doubled.

‘I based my work of art on the future because its about changing your life around so you don’t fall down the same hole. It’s also aimed at other people in my position, that at the end of every chapter there’s a new beginning and there’s plenty of time to turn your life around if you keep faithful and believe in yourself.’ – Participant, HMP/YOI Feltham, Fail or Success.
